Gillian began her journalism career in the world’s toughest sport: Wall Street. She broke scoops on hedge funds with assets of $1 billion or more for Absolute Return, then a title of Institutional Investor. Her work led to invitations to moderate at conferences around the world from London to Hong Kong, and a rolodex of sources in the highest echelons of finance.
Gillian moved to broadcast in 2016 as Anchor and U.S. Head of Programming for Asset TV, a business network broadcast on the Bloomberg Terminal. She was able to marry her twin interests in sport and finance with the debut of Sportfolio, Asset TV’s first channel dedicated to the business of sport. She covered the Rio 2016 Olympic Games on the ground, and interviewed many notable figures from gymnastics phenom Gabby Douglas to Australian Open winner Caroline Wozniacki. She secured Asset TV’s first accreditation to the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, and led the outlet’s coverage there for two years—including a special on the financing of the 2018 World Cup. She co-hosted live events alongside Fox Business anchor Liz Claman and White House Economic Advisor Larry Kudlow, and reported from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.
In 2018, Gillian was one of fourteen young leaders selected for the Alfa Fellowship—a prestigious professional placement in Moscow, Russia. She covered the FIFA 2018 World Cup and the 2018-19 KHL season. Gillian worked both as a video correspondent and producer for Kunlun Red Star, the KHL’s newest expansion team in China, and a hockey writer for Sport-Express, Russia’s largest sports newspaper. She became the first foreign journalist to author a cover story for Sport-Express in its 28 year history.
Gillian holds a Bachelor’s in Economics cum laude from Columbia University and a Master’s in International Management with distinction from the London School of Economics. She was a competitive archer in college and remains a not-so-competitive tennis player.
